ELEPHANTS ON THE WALL

WALLIES FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

So, what are Wallies?
Wallies are pre-pasted, vinyl-coated wallpaper cutouts, murals and big murals. We also produce a wonderfully versatile vinyl, peel and stick collection of chalkboards, dry erase and murals.

Do I have to cut the designs out myself?
No. All Wallies products come already die-cut in each unique shape.

Do I need to use wallpaper paste to put them up?
No. Wallies come pre-pasted or as peel and stick vinyl. For the pre-pasted variety, just soak the Wallies for a few seconds and then stick them to the wall. That's it! Here are a few helpful tips:

  1. When you are ready to apply the cutouts, simply place in water, fully submerged, and soak for one to two minutes.
Remove the cutout from the water, draining off any excess water.
Using a sponge or paper towel, smooth on each piece, wiping from the center out toward the edges to eliminate any trapped air bubbles.
Continue with this same procedure until your Wallies project is complete.

Can I get them off once I stick them up?
Yes. To remove the pre-pasted variety, simply peel off. If there is any paper residue, moisten well with water. Once the paper is thoroughly wet, peel off.

Can I hang them in a moist bathroom?
Yes. Wallies are vinyl-coated so they can be washed and they can withstand the moisture in a bathroom. Just don't put them right in the shower. Direct water flow will cause them to strip off.

Where can I put Wallies?
Wallies are perfect for walls, of course. But they also work great on furniture, clay or ceramic pots, picture frames, craft items, floor and table runners, wooden hope chests, lampshades, gift wrapping, invitations, bulletin boards, ceramic tile....the list is nearly endless. The only place you can't stick Wallies is on slick plastic surfaces. Wallies on ceramic tile should be located away from high-moisture areas, such as backsplashes on sinks.

How long should I wait before applying Wallies to a surface that has just been painted?
Each paint manufacturer will have suggested times for waiting before applying a second coat of paint and these suggestions should be followed for applying Wallies. They may also provide an amount of time for curing the paint before doing anything else to its surface. Paint should definitely be completely dry before Wallies application, but the best guideline is to follow manufacturer instructions.

Will Wallies ruin the surface underneath when I take them off?
No. Wallies are made to strip off without damage to the surface. If a putty knife is used to scrape the moistened Wallies off the wall, be sure to scrape gently.

Can I put them on existing wallpaper?
Yes.

Are Wallies safe for scrapbooking?
Scrapbookers love Wallies . Unfortunately the cutouts are not 100% acid-free. However many people have gotten around this problem by spraying the Wallies with products like Archival Mist® or by placing archival quality papers between the Wallies and their treasured photos. We suggest you do what feels right to you. Their acidity is only slight.

Can I apply Wallies to tile, mirrors/windows and textured walls?
Yes. Wallies adhere easily to hard, smooth surfaces like tile and glass. With textured walls, Wallies adhere best when the texture is not too rough and the surface has been painted. Raw wood surfaces or porous, textured wallpaper usually poses a problem as the porous surface will absorb the wet glue and result in a weak bond. In this case you may want to reinforce the bond with a little spray adhesive.

Are Wallies easy enough for my kids to decorate their own rooms?
You bet! It's especially easy for kids to get creative with Wallies using our peel and stick line of products that don't require any water at all. Plus, they are repositionable, so if they don't get it quite right, it's no problem to peel off and replace in a new spot.

Can I use Wallies for decoupage?
Absolutely! Just wet the back and stick them on and seal them like you would any decoupage cutout. See our Show & Tell! section for some great ideas.

Can I put Wallies on furniture that goes outside?
We do not recommend it unless you polyurethane over the Wallies to seal them. Extremes in temperature and humidity are not good for Wallies. Like other wallpaper products, Wallies can fade with time from extensive direct exposure to ultraviolet rays.

How many Wallies does it take to decorate a room?
Well, it's hard to say. Obviously it depends on the size of your room. Each Wallies package contains 25 cutouts. Some are larger than others: for instance the Noah's Ark is 6 1/2 inches wide while the Purple Pansy is just 2 inches wide. As a general rule you can usually do a thorough job with one pack for a small room, like a bathroom, and 3 packs for a normal bedroom. We suggest you use your best judgment.

Can Wallies create custom made designs for me, such as a special request for a certain design or a design from a photo I provide?
We are not able to provide this type of service for our retail customers, but we do welcome your suggestions and may consider certain designs if we have a lot of interest.

Where can I buy Wallies?
Wallies are available at many craft stores (like Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Pearl Paint), hardware stores, paint and wallpaper stores and small gift boutiques. You can check our retailers link for a store near you or call 1-800-255-2762 ext. 374 for a dealer near you. And of course, you can order directly from this web site or call our customer service reps to place an order at 1-800-255-2762 ext. 485.

WALLCANDY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I apply WallCandy?
Application is a simple three-step process of peel, place then smooth with your hand. Then your WallCandy can be rearranged and easily removed numerous times. Freshly painted or cleaned walls should be completely dry before applying the product. Completely dry may be longer than you think. In some room environments that could mean a few weeks for every layer to be cured.

How long will my WallCandy stay up on my wall?
WallCandy is as easy to remove as it is to install but left alone it will stay on your wall for 3-5 glorious, artful years.

Will WallCandy stick to any wall in my house?
WallCandy adheres to any clean, smooth surface without pretreatment. With wallpaper, textured and finished wood surfaces, test a sample first for effect…then go hog wild.

What do I do if an individual piece of art is too big for the area I’d like to install it?
WallCandy can be cut with a scissor or overlapped to suit your decorating needs.

Will my WallCandy work in the bathroom?
Yes, the bathroom is a great location for WallCandy. Just don’t put it right inside the shower.

How do I change my design?
To rearrange your scene, carefully peel off each element and reposition it where you like, smooth out with your hand, sit back an enjoy.

Can I clean my WallCandy?
For cleaning, wipe panels with a damp cloth.

How do I save my WallCandy once I’ve removed it from my wall?
Keeping the adhesive side free of debris when rearranging, and returning used WallCandy to the original silicone treated backing for storage, will help extend the long life of the product.

Where is WallCandy made?
WallCandy is made in the USA of nontoxic materials and inks.

SKY BOX SPORTS SCENES FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What material are the PhotoMurals made of?
The PhotoMurals are manufactured on two types of mediums. The 8 ft x 12 ft PhotoMurals are produced on a residential grade, pre-pasted wallpaper 30" wide and are hung just like regular wall paper. Our 4 ft x 6 ft PhotoMurals are one piece produced on a vinyl wall covering material.

Can I hang a PhotoMural by myself?
Yes! Residential grade PhotoMurals are printed on actual wallpaper so you can hang it like wallpaper. Just add water and go! However, as with any job, it's always easier with a second pair of hands! If you would like to hire a professional, visit www.thepaperhangers.com where you can input your zip code and receive a list of professional paper-hangers within your area.

The panels overlap, should I trim the extra material?
The panels are printed with a bleed area that results in a 3 to 4 inch overlap. It is recommended the mural be installed with the overlap. The minimal thickness of the wallpaper does not result in a noticeable effect at the overlap. Trimming the excess requires experience, proper tools and precision. The additional time required to trim the overlap during installation may result in overworking the material, drying of the paste resulting either damage to the product and/or loss of adhesion.

Can I do the entire room or just one wall?
Each mural is printed as an independent scene. On smaller walls you can return a PhotoMural around the corner onto the adjacent wall for a unique look. You can certainly order more than one mural and cover more than one wall, in fact a day time then night time scene might be fun!

How do I clean my PhotoMural?
The inks on the PhotoMural are completely cured prior to shipment, however, care should be taken when cleaning to ensure the inks are not removed or smeared by cleaning solvents. We recommend you save any scraps from the installation of your PhotoMural as a trial area. If no scraps are available, perform a trial on an area of the PhotoMural that is not subject to view. If only a light cleaning of readily removable spot is required we recommend the use of a soap and water solution applied with a soft sponge.

Will it fade over time?
In an effort to provide a highly desirable and vibrant PhotoMural, the use of superior inks and durable print materials has been incorporated. The PhotoMurals will standup to ultraviolet (sunlight) radiation for years. However, the coloring agents within the ink material may, over years of daily exposure to direct sunlight, experience a slight degree of fading.

What should I do if my PhotoMural peels?
If you clean and prepare your walls before you install the wallpaper according to the instructions, there should be no problem with peeling. In the event peeling occurs, treating the backside of the de-bonded wallpaper with a wallpaper paste and re-applying should address the problem. Wallpaper paste is generally available at most hardware stores and home improvement centers.

What if I rip or tear it during installation?
Do not over soak or overwork the pre-pasted panels. The panels have overlap (the edges will lap over each other) so if it tears, the next panel should cover it.

2JANE MIBO TILE TATTOOS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are Tile Tattoos waterproof?

Yes, the Tile Tattoos are water, heat, and steam proof approximately 36 hours after installation.  However, we do not recommend applying Tile Tattoos in the bottom of a bathtub or sink, as they should not be soaked underwater, but rather can withstand splashes and sprays of water.

Where can I use Tile Tattoos?

Use them in a kitchen or bathroom or anywhere you need a stylish alternative to replacing old wall tiles. Hide tired, discolored, or outdated tiles, wake up unimaginative tilework, or help camouflage lightly cracked tiles. Tile Tattoos are not recommended for use on floor tiles or heavily cracked or broken tiles.

How much coverage do the Tile Tattoos provide?

The designs printed on white adhesive paper will completely cover your tile, allowing you to hide an unwanted existing design color, or hairline crack. The translucent backings will allow the tile to show through, creating the effect of a surface design on your tile.

What are your suggestions for decorating with the Tile Tattoos?

Create a bold geometric look by placing them diagonally or in a checkerboard pattern. Place them together in sets of 2’s, 3’s, or 4’s in horizontal or vertical rows to give little bursts of visual interest. Scatter them at random for a fun unstructured look. A few Tile Tattoos go a long way in decorating!

How do I know what color is best for my décor?

We suggest choosing a complementary or contrasting color to add to your existing décor, rather than attempting to match one of the 4 colors exactly. The black or white designs on translucent backing are especially useful in almost any setting. Even mid-century pastel tiles are easily modernized by a touch of black or white surface design.

What sizes are available?

Tile Tattoos are available in 4.25" squares, 6" squares and 3" x 6" rectangles. These sizes fit the most common tile sizes available.

What tools do I need for the Tile Tattoo application?

Water and a squeegee or credit card.

How do you apply Tile Tattoos?

Clean the tile to which you will apply the sticker, wiping thoroughly to ensure all cleaning agents are removed. Allow it to dry. Lightly spray the tile with water and spritz the sticky side of the Tile Tattoo as well (this allows you to place the tile and move it around before it sticks). Use a squeegee or credit card to smooth out the sticker and remove the excess water.

How do I clean Tile Tattoos?

Once the Tile Tattoos are applied, they may be cleaned with non-abrasive soap and water. To preserve the design, do not use harsh or abrasive chemicals or a scrub brush.

Are the Tile Tattoos reusable?

Tile Tattoos are single use only. They are easily removable but not reusable.

How do I remove the Tile Tattoos?

Tile Tattoos are designed to stick to a tile surface as long as you need them to, but if your design tastes change, simply peel back a corner of a sticker and remove the Tile Tattoo. Tile Tattoos do not leave any sticky residue behind.

2JANE ADHESIVE FILM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What size windows does the adhesive film cover?

The sheets are 37" x 52" with patterns that can be used horizontally or vertically to cover a window this same size or smaller. Multiple rolls of film can be used on windows or glass doors larger than 37" x 52" but seams between sheets might show. A professional wallpaper hanger should be able to achieve a seamless appearance.

If my window is smaller than the film how do I cut the film accurately?

The film features a grid on its backing paper to help in cutting straight lines.

Is the film only for use on windows?

We encourage using the backing paper grid to cut the film in fun decorative shapes and designs for use on windows or other household surfaces such as glass, mirrors, or acrylic surfaces. We recommend it for use on glass cabinet doors, glass tables, display shelves or cases, vases, or any smooth flat surface.

Can I use the film on walls?
No, we do not recommend using the adhesive window film on sheetrock or plaster walls as these surfaces often have bumps and grooves.

Is the film waterproof?

Yes, the adhesive film is waterproof and steam proof and looks great in kitchen and bath environments. We do not recommend installing it on the bottom of a bathtub, but it is commonly used on shower doors and bathroom windows.

Can I buy partial rolls of film?

No, the rolls are packaged as 37" x 52" sheets and can not be trimmed for individual purchases. However, if you have a special project in mind we can print a custom size. Price varies, as does printing time, so please contact sales@2jane with any inquiries.

Can I get a sample of the adhesive film?
Yes, we sell a set of 6, 4" x 8" sheets (approximate sizes), one of each design with application instructions and decorating ideas. You can purchase them here.

How do I apply the film?

1. Clean the window and make sure no cleaning liquid remains on the window.

2. Measure the window in several places (not all windows are perfectly square).

3. Use scissors to cut your film. Cut it slightly larger (about ¼") than the window.

4. Lay out the film face down on a flat, clean surface. Then carefully peel the backing paper off   the film to expose the sticky side of the film.

5. Lightly spray the window as well as the sticky side of the film with water.

6. Place the film lightly on the window, the water will allow you to move and remove the film as you position it accurately it on the window.

7. Once the film is in place, use your hands to adhere the film to the window. Apply pressure in the middle and push outward.

8. We recommend also using a squeegee or credit card to press the film against the window as it squeezes out the water…Start in the middle and work your way toward the edges just as you did with your hands.

9. Wipe off the excess water on the film’s outside edges with a clean paper towel.

10. Use a craft knife or razor blade to neatly trim the edges of the film.

11. If bubbles are left in the film, pop them with a small pin and squeeze out the water/air through the pinhole using your finger. Please note, temporary foggy patches may appear as the moisture escapes the film. Allow 72 hours for drying.

12. Each sheet of adhesive film has the instructions printed on the backing paper.

How do I remove the adhesive film?

Simply peel back a corner and pull until the film comes off the window. If you have difficulty in peeling it off we suggest heating it with a blow dryer to loosen the adhesive.

Is there any residue when the film is removed?
No, there is no sticky residue from this product, if it is used on a smooth surface such as glass or acrylic.

Can I reuse the film?
No, the film stretches slightly during removal, so it is not reusable.

How do I clean the adhesive film?
We recommend a gentle soap and water cleaning. Do not use rough abrasives or rough sponges or brushes, as the printed pattern could be harmed by harsh abrasives.

Is the film see-through?
No, the film is slightly frosted, so it obscures figures but allows sunshine to filter through.

Is the full product line available online for purchase?

Yes, the 6 designs—Flowers & Lace, Moroccan, Orba, Pixel, Delphi, and Clover—in 37" x 52" sheets comprise the current North American collection.

Will there be more styles?
Yes, Emma Jeffs is always designing new creations in her London studio so please check back periodically to see the latest!

ELEPHANTS ON THE WALL FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I can’t even draw a stick figure. Will I be really able to do this?

It’s really very easy. Just tape up the pattern and transfer paper, trace the lines and then paint the areas with the corresponding colors. It’s just like coloring in a coloring book.

How long will it take?

You’ll not only be done before you know it, but it should only take about a weekend.

What is included in the kit and is there anything else I will need to buy?

Each kit includes the paper pattern, transfer paper, directions and a color guide. You will need to buy the paints, a couple of brushes and some painter's tape.

Where do I find the paints?

The Americana paints by DecoArt can be found at most craft and art supply stores. They are sold at Wal-Mart, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Ben Franklin Crafts, Garden Ridge, Hancock Fabrics, Crafts & Stuff, Mae’s, Jo Ann Stores and many more.

Do I have to use their paints?

No. There are generic paints listed too. You can even come up with your own color palette.

Do I have to prep the wall before starting?

For best results the wall should be clean and dust and dirt free.

What type of paint should I use for the background?

It’s best to use a satin, semi-gloss or eggshell finish. This way smudges from the transfer paper can be removed with a damp cloth.

Can I paint it on any color of wall?

Most murals will do best on a white or off-white or very pale color wall.

Why shouldn’t I trace the numbers too?

It’s best if you don’t only because some of the numbers might show through the lighter colored paints. You might want to try to do a test first.

Can I reverse the patterns so the design faces the opposite direction?

Yes. Simply place the pattern on top of the transfer paper with the transfer material facing the back of the pattern. Trace the design, and flip over the pattern. Your design will now have the design on the back in reverse. Proceed with normal directions.
